HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER
It seems contrary to intuition, but hiring a wedding planner right from the get-go can save you costly mistakes through the planning process. They know the right people, they know the industry, and they can help you get the most bang for your wedding budget. They are also there to make your wedding planning process stress free from beginning to end they are there for every detail and help needed.
CUT THE GUEST LIST
This will slash on catering costs and save on invitations and you won’t need as many centerpieces. Also think about having bigger tables. this will allow you to have fewer center pieces as well
CHOOSE A WEEKDAY OR OFF-SEASON
Tying the knot on a weekday or off-season (a winter wedding can be incredibly stunning!) will likely get you money-saving deals on everything from venues to vendors.
CUT A DISPLAY CAKE
You know the gorgeous cake you showcase and cut at the reception? It doesn’t have to feed everyone. Keep your display cake small & elegant, and serve your guests yummy sheet cake pre-cut in the back.
DECK OUT THE HEAD TABLE
If your budget doesn’t allow for elaborate decor on each guest table, opt for an absolutely stunning sweetheart table – or head table to include your wedding party – that can serve as a focal point of the reception.
CONSIDER UP-AND-COMING VENDORS
I don’t recommend you hire a newbie amateur , but if your budget doesn’t allow for the best-of-the-best, do your homework and research sources like Instagram, blogs, word of mouth, for newer industry talents that fit your style.
Have your ceremony and reception in the same location. It will cut travel time for vendors you pay by the hour and keeps the expense down of having to pay for 2 locations.
CONSIDER YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Choose a venue that doesn’t need much décor. A venue that is beautiful on its own will allow you to save money on having to dress it up. Or the opposite; and having to hide the decor to get the look you want. Outdoor wedding venues with beautiful landscaping will set a timeless look for your day for free or venues that have a blank slate to work with but has a beautiful look in its simplicity.
Avoid the buffet meal or traditional sit down dinner all together. Instead, host a cocktail reception with hor d’oeuvres or small plate pairings & cocktails. This is becoming a very popular trend to do small plate pairing with wine.
SERVE SIGNATURE COCKTAILS
Alcohol is one of the biggest expenses of a wedding. Since most reception sites charge for every bottle opened, even if it was for just one drink, Or you yourself are purchasing the alcohol, consider offering a limited bar. Choose a signature cocktail (or a series of signature cocktails) that use one type of liquor. Then, stock a few other bottles based on the wedding party’s preferences (i.e., if your dad drinks only scotch). Another option is to serve just beer, wine, and enough champagne for toasts.
CHOOSE SEASONAL FLOWERS
This not only brings the season into your event but it also cuts costs, because your florist won’t have to import any exotic or out-of-season blooms.
SKIP THE FAVORS
Favors on the table are becoming a thing of the past. Photo booth’s allow for the guests to take home a fun memory of the night or on each table have a nice framed sign saying in lieu of a favor you’ve made a donation to a charity. Put your money where it counts!
